Stories of Solidarity: the Tolpuddle Martyrs and Clerkenwell Green

Join us at the Marx Memorial Library for the final summer instalment of our Reds on the Green series, a collaboration between the Marx Memorial Library and Islington Heritage.

Explore the history of the Tolpuddle Martyrs – early agricultural trade unionists arrested, tried and transported for joining a union – and their ties to the local area

•    Exhibition reception – discover contemporary documents on the Martyrs; enjoy drinks and refreshments

•    Hear from Chris Kaufman former food and farming national officer for Unite and Editor of the Landworker; currently Country Standard editor on the significance of the Martyrs

•    Drop in placard making session: get hands on with a special workshop – design your own placards welcoming the Martyrs back from Australia!
