The weekend before London elects its next mayor, London Cycling Campaign is putting on a festival of city cycling with over 20 rides across the capital already listed on the site as part of its London Loves Cycling mayoral campaign.

Rides and events listed at londonlovescycling.org include on Saturday 27th April: a stall with free breakfast for those cycling (or jogging) to Islington’s Parkrun; a ride into Essex from south London, and a child-friendly cycle round Westminster. On Sunday 28thApril, you can choose from: joining the Havering Mayor’s Charity Bike Ride; park-to-park rides in Harrow and Richmond, or family fun cycle rides in Kingston and through Southwark, Lewisham and Greenwich. Wherever you are in London, there’ll be rides happening near you.

“Our weekend of rides will showcase the huge range of people who now cycle in London and the types of cycling they do. For every ride designed for the fit and fast, there’s one for kids pootling around safely in a park, along cycle tracks or through Low Traffic Neighbourhoods. We want the next Mayor to accelerate the amazing progress made on cycling by the last two Mayors, Sadiq Khan and Boris Johnson – we want a city where anyone and everyone can experience the joy, health benefits and freedom of cycling in our capital,” said Eilidh Murray, Chair, London Cycling Campaign.

Throughout April hundreds people all over London have shown the mayoral candidates how much #LondonLovesCycling (see londonlovescycling.org for more details). Londoners are calling on the Mayoral candidates to commit to doing more for cycling in London to keep the momentum up on delivering a happier, healthier, safer city. London Cycling Campaign is asking Londoners to get out and ride the weekend before they vote.
