Love is in the air this Valentine’s Day – and lighting up the London skyline. The Shard, the UK’s tallest building and a breathtaking backdrop for proposals, predicts 50 “will you marry me’s?” within its award-winning venues on the most romantic day of the year.

To celebrate its status as the ultimate romance destination, The Shard’s iconic spire will be illuminated with a giant heart for the first time ever, sharing the love with all of London.

With a total of 1,566 hopeful romantics popping the question inside the UK’s tallest building in 2024, equating to a proposal every six hours, it has become one of the most popular places to get down on one knee. The Shard expects to see these numbers increase in 2025 to more than 2,000 proposals.

The Shard even has a dedicated team to help make the moment as magical as possible, as seen on E4’s Will You Marry Me? On hand at Shangri-La all year round, the world’s first luxury proposal company has helped more than 5,000 couples say “Yes!”, offering a host of packages that can bring any package to life.

The Shard’s love heart illumination will be visible from sunset (5pm) on Valentine’s Day and to help lovebirds begin the rest of their lives together this special day, restaurants and bars in the iconic London landmark have a selection of exclusive Valentine’s menus that guests will fall in love with while soaking in panoramic views of London.
