The Charterhouse is delighted to announce that, following a search that attracted an exceptionally strong field of candidates, the Revd Jennifer Midgley-Adam will be joining the community as its new Preacher.
Jennifer will officially take up the post this month, following her licensing on 3 August by the Rt Revd Dr Emma Ineson, Acting Bishop of London.

The role of the Preacher dates to the original foundation of the Charterhouse, as envisioned by its founder, Thomas Sutton. The religious life of the Charterhouse has always been central to its identity. At its inception, it was celebrated as a model Protestant charity, establishing crucial social support structures in the wake of the Reformation. Today, the Preacher’s role supports the entire Charterhouse community, which includes individuals of all faiths and none. The historic Chapel remains an active place of worship for both residents and the public, with our resident organist and choral partners bringing music in the form of Choral Evensongs and more. Looking ahead, the Charterhouse aims to contribute to the exploration and debate regarding the subject of spirituality and ageing.
