Football teams from across Islington came to battle it out at the Peace Cup Football Tournament 2024 on Sunday 29th September. This year had the largest turnout with a total of 13 teams and 145 young men.  From kick-off, it was fast and furious and it soon became clear that the level of football had improved yet again from the previous year, it was fascinating to watch.

Through the afternoon, various teams were knocked out as we came to some thrilling semi-finals.  The final itself was between Pro Touch and The Gardens, showing some very competitive football.  Pro Touch won 1-0.

This tournament is delivered by many different organisations – Islington Council’s Targeted Youth Support, Access to Sports Project, Islington Faiths Forum, Better GLL, NHS colleagues, Arsenal in the Community, Street Doctors, Mary’s and the coordinators of the community football teams.  A fantastic team effort.

Big thanks to all funders and contributors:  Islington Council’s Young Islington, Better GLL, Tesco Express Caledonian Road (for all their delicious food and drinks!), Islington Police and Absolute Print.
