Moorfields Eye Charity’s annual fundraising walk Eye to Eye returns for its 11th year on Sunday 22 June 2025. For this family friendly event, the charity invites patients, staff, researchers and the local community to come together to raise funds for life-changing eye research and innovation at Moorfields Eye Hospital and the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology.

Over 500 people of all ages and abilities will stride through the London streets to change the future of eye health. The 1 mile route will explore the quiet, historically interesting streets around Moorfields Eye Hospital. The 5 and 15 mile routes will pass the new centre for advancing eye health. Oriel is a joint initiative between Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology and Moorfields Eye Charity. This new home for the hospital and the institute will bring treatment, research and education under one roof, accelerating the development of new treatments for patients in the UK and globally.

Walks start and end at the charity’s event village located outside the children’s eye centre on Peerless Street by Moorfields Eye Hospital where there will be live music, food stalls and a children’s activity corner.

Jacob walked with his mum in 2024. He said “I consider Moorfields my second family. They have supported me living with retinitis pigmentosa for years and always make me feel relaxed and safe. When I crossed the line and saw my friends and family waiting for me, I felt such a massive sense of joy and pride in myself. I knew that by walking Eye to Eye, I had just achieved something really special.”

Jo Green, head of fundraising and engagement, Moorfields Eye Charity:

“Eye to Eye is such a special event and a highlight of our year. It’s wonderful seeing our regular supporters and new faces coming together, all on a mission to push forward the boundaries of eye health. Thank you to everyone for your support, it means so much to the charity, Moorfields, UCL and people with sight loss.”

There’s also a virtual option, My Eye to Eye, for those who want to fundraise closer to home on 21-22 June 2025, participants can walk, run or ride from their own doorsteps.
