This year’s Finsbury Winter Warmers programme has been the best and most varied series so far! This weekend sees the final two events take place in a day of celebration for International Women’s Day.

Firstly we have Inspirational Clerkenwell Women – a guided walk, on Saturday 8th March 11.00am-12.00pm (followed by refreshments at Islington Museum). Come and explore the stories of some extraordinary women associated with Clerkenwell, including a bare-knuckle boxing ‘Championess’, a world-famous architect, and a trade union leader. Please book in advance, numbers strictly limited. Meeting point provided on booking. Book your place here.

Later that afternoon find out about the incredible Amelia B. Edwards, in ‘From Islington to the Nile‘, Saturday 8th March, 2.30pm-4.00pm (includes tea and cake after the talk) at Islington Museum, below-ground entrance, 245 St John Street, EC1V 4NB.

Join author Margaret C. Jones to discover the story of Clerkenwell-born nineteenth century trailblazer Amelia B. Edwards – a thrilling travel writer, best-selling novelist, pioneering Egyptologist, and founder of University College London’s Egyptology Department and the Egypt Exploration Society. Drop in, no need to book, but please arrive by 2.30pm.

Both events are FREE! See you there…
